Our ponchos are made by hand from the finest silk velvet and mulberry silk.

Silk velvet ponchos

Twelve of our ponchos are silk velvet, lined in 100% mulberry silk, with a 20 cm fringe along the hem. Most pair two colours: black with emerald in the Gypset, purple with champagne in the Gatsby, magenta with olive in the Dahlia, yellow gold with hot pink in the Limoncello, light blue with burgundy in the Summer Cloud. The Golden Age is black velvet with a gold fringe; the Dahlia Sparkle has a beaded fringe.

Mulberry silk ponchos

The Nomad, Lavender, Fire Bolt, Blue Poppy and Cornflower are 100% mulberry silk, lighter than velvet, with a border embroidered by hand in gold, silver or burgundy thread and a fringe at the hem. They fold small for travel and suit warm evenings. The Silver Feather is 100% silk georgette, with a high neck and silver feathers embroidered at the neck and shoulders.

Two lengths, one size

The shorter cut is 65 cm from the back of the neck to the hem and sits at the hip, over trousers, jeans or a slip dress. The longer cut is 95 cm and falls past the hip, over a column dress or a long skirt. Both are about 120 cm wide, with a further 20 cm of fringe. Every poncho is one size, shaped to drape rather than to fit a chart, and usually fits XS to XL.

When to wear one

A silk velvet poncho goes over an evening dress at a winter wedding, to dinner or to the theatre, and over denim by day. A mulberry silk poncho is for summer evenings, garden parties and travel. Five ways to wear a poncho. If your colour is not here, create your own poncho, made to order for you.

What size is a Mirayama poncho?

One size, shaped to drape rather than to fit a chart. It usually fits XS to XL and is about 120 cm wide from edge to edge.

Which length should I choose?

The 65 cm cut sits at the hip, over trousers or a slip dress. The 95 cm cut falls past the hip, over a long dress or skirt. If you are unsure, write to us with your height and we will advise.

How do I care for a silk velvet poncho?

Dry clean only, with a cleaner who knows silk. Never wash or iron it. To lift creases, steam it from the inside, a hand's width away, and store it flat or on a broad hanger.

How long does delivery take?

UK delivery is complimentary and tracked, in 3 to 4 working days, or £35 express in 1 to 2. Orders to Europe (€65), the United States ($65) and elsewhere ($75) go by DHL, signed for, and are dispatched within 3 working days. Outside the UK, import VAT and duties, where charged, are paid to DHL on delivery.

Can I return a poncho?

Yes, within 14 days of receiving it, unworn and with its labels. A poncho made to order in your own colours cannot be returned.
